Ms. Emma Fofanah, Executive at Songo Investments, was invited to the Meeting of Speakers of Parliament of the Member States of the Mano River Union, held on 20th July 2025 in Monrovia, Liberia.
The Meeting of Speakers marks a pivotal moment in advancing regional integration and collaborative governance within the Mano River Union. By bringing together parliamentary leaders from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire, the event provided a strategic platform to strengthen legislative diplomacy and foster consensus on shared regional challenges.
Held under the theme “Towards a Regional Parliament for Integration, Peace and Development,” the gathering underscored the urgent need to harmonize legislative frameworks, promote inclusive dialogue, and reinforce regional institutions that reflect the aspirations of the people.
The meeting’s outcomes are twofold: it affirms the political commitment to transforming the Mano River Union into a more cohesive regional bloc capable of driving legislative alignment, peacebuilding, and sustainable development; and it lays the foundation for a regional parliamentary mechanism to enable joint oversight, policy coherence, and people-centered development.
